Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

Last Updated: 09 August 2021

The Y will be updating this page as new information comes in. We are working with our Council partners and the State Government, with all actions taken in accordance to the decisions made by Queensland Health.

The Queensland Government has ended the lockdown for the local government areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan City, Moreton Bay, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley and Scenic Rim.

Our centres and services are now open and operating however adhering to the strict guidelines from the Government.

We will keep you updated on our social media pages, and in the meantime, we hope you stay safe and well.

YMCA Camping is operating with an approved covid-safe plan.

Our first priority at YMCA Camping is to provide a safe, fun and enriching experience for your child/ren. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have developed a COVID-19 Safety Management Plan incorporating control measures from several Industry Safe Plans. The implementation of the plan is vital to ensure the safe operation of our camps and we all need to be vigilant in following the correct protocols and procedures.

The Y is closely monitoring the situation and adhering to Australian and Queensland Government advice in relation to Novel Coronavirus.

The Y is also following its regular Covid-19 health and safety practices regarding cleaning of equipment, bathrooms and change rooms and our food handling procedures. This includes regular cleaning of equipment and toys. We will also be undertaking additional cleaning and disinfecting of high contact surfaces.

In the instance of a confirmed case at one of our centres, we will need to close for a period to allow QLD Health to assess the situation and to perform contact tracing as required to identify people and students who may have come in contact with the COVID-19 virus.

Specialised cleaning of the facility will take place if necessary before re-opening.

What do I need to do?

Anyone who has been in the locations in the Government’s contact tracing alert list during the relevant time periods, regardless of whether they have symptoms is asked to get tested and isolate until their results are received.

You can access the contact tracing alert page on the QLD Government’s website at the following location - https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/current-status/contact-tracing

As per usual health and wellness guidance, we ask members, students and visitors who are unwell with respiratory illness should seek medical advice and remain at home until symptoms resolve.

We also ask that all members, students and visitors take the precautions advised by the public health experts including:

  • Frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • When coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – dispose of tissue immediately and wash hands.

Avoid close contact with anyone who has fever and cough (stay more than 1.5 meters away).
